Swedavia Energy - Your partner for sustainable energy solutions at Swedavia's airports
When it comes to our electricity supply, we buy Guarantees of Origin from electricity production that is based on renewable energy sources, such as biofuel, wind power or hydroelectric power.
In addition, we use electricity to produce cooling, which we count as 100% renewable as well.
When it comes to heating for our airports in Malmö and Göteborg, we have our own systems with renewable fuels such as pellets and bio-oil. At other airports, we purchase district heating from suppliers who produce it with renewable fuels in accordance with agreements.
To further promote sustainability, we use a natural groundwater reservoir in the boulder ridge at Halmsjön. This reservoir is used to store excess heat and cold during different seasons, which in turn is used to preheat the ventilation air and produce district cooling.
