Travelling with animals
Here we have gathered information for passengers planning to travel with pets. Both when you are travelling from Sweden and when you are travelling to Sweden.
Booking your trip
For travelling with pets contact the airline with which you are travelling for further information.
Inform the airline at the time of booking that you will be bringing an animal on board – the number of animals permitted on board is often limited. Remember that airlines usually charge an extra fee for allowing an animal to travel inside the aircraft.
Larger animals can sometimes be transported as air cargo in compliance with special regulations. Contact your airline to find out what rules and charges apply.

Departing travellers
Your dog must be on a lead until you board the aircraft.
Arriving in Sweden
If you will retrieve your pet in the baggage hall, you need to contact the airline's ground handling company. You do this via the arrival service. Â Your pet will only be released to the passenger who has checked it in.
Drop-off & pick-up
If you are dropping off or picking up someone you are allowed to bring your pet in to the terminal building.
Travelling abroad with animals
If you are planning to travel abroad with an animal, it is important that you check the rules for bringing animals into the destination country.  If the animal will travel back to Sweden with you, you also need to check the Swedish Board of Agriculture's rules for import.  See the section below: Travelling to Sweden with animals.
Travelling to Sweden with animals
If you are going to bring an animal into Sweden, it may require long preparation before your animal can travel. Check this before you book. Animals traveling with their owner must remain in their cage or bag due to infection reasons until customs is passed.

For dogs and cats that have been denied entry, there is the Swedavia Animal Center, where animals are cared for while waiting for return travel. There is also the possibility of dog quarantine. Swedavia Animal Center can be reached by phone 010-109 19 45 Mon-Fri 07.00-21.00, Sat-Sun 07.00-20.00
